Pediatric Occupational Therapy Services provides OT services to children. We specialize in treating sensory processing disorders but also address fine motor, visual motor, postural stability, and handwriting issues as well as activities of daily living, especially feeding skills.
Our treatment area at Little Bugs Gym provides a zip line, a trampoline, an array of unique swings, monkey bars, barrel, two texture bins and a fine motor area. We try to make each treatment session fun and productive, providing the just-right challenge to match each child’s needs and strengths.
Our philosophy includes:
- treatment should be fun – sessions that are uncomfortable or not fun cause stress and this can be counter productive to a child’s developmental progress
- treatment is mostly child directed, therapist facilitated – if a child is invested in what they are doing and are trying to accomplish a goal they personally have set, they will greatly benefit from this inner drive to achieve and master the skill they are working on; changes will be positive, meaningful and longer lasting for the child.
- providing a safe environment in which a child can safely explore and master challenges
- using sensory activities to help children process information more effectively so they can do what they want and need to do well
- helping each child fulfill their roles as a player, family member, student and friend
- providing support to family members through consultation, resources, materials, and referrals when needed – if time permits, the therapist is willing to attend IEP meetings to provide support to the parents as well as share and gain information from the school staff
- working with, and incorporating, the goals of other care providers whenever possible – often times our sessions are a great place to work on speech, behavioral, cognitive and social skills
Payment options: At this time, we take Medicaid, CHP+, some Blue Cross Blue Shield plans and private pay. If you have a different insurance plan, please call us so we can discuss the different options we might have available. If we don’t know the answer, we will work together to find one.
Please call for our current rates; they will vary depending on the length of the session and whether we are doing an evaluation or just treatment. Sessions are usually 45 to 60 minutes long, once to three times weekly (although once per week is most typical). We work with each family and client on an individual basis to determine how many times per week works best for that child.
If you have any questions, please contact us either by phone or email. We look forward to speaking to you soon!
